World Book Day 2016

On Thursday 3rd March, Ferry Lane children and staff had a fun-filled day celebrating World Book Day 2016. Many children and staff dressed up as characters from books – here are just some of the fantastic costumes we saw:

The day began with an assembly, where prizes were awarded to each year group for the best costume. Congratulations to our winners, who each receive a book voucher to spend on a book of their choice.

Well done to our costume winners!

The fun continued after assembly when staff swapped classes to read a favourite story to a different year group.

Later in the day, some classes were also visited by members of the local community, who read stories to the children and discussed their favourite books with them.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all children, parents and staff for your dressing up efforts. Thank you to the volunteers who came into school to read to the children, and of course to Miss Gosling, who did a fantastic job at organising the day and the many competitions which will follow.
