On Thursday 3rd March, children and staff celebrated World Book Day 2016. To mark the occasion there will be a number of competitions running in the coming two weeks. We would love all children to take part in the competitions and there are some fantastic prizes to be won! Here are some of the details – if you have any questions about any of the competitions, please speak to Miss Gosling.
Who can read the most number of book pages in a fortnight? Keep a record and let you teacher know what you’ve been reading. The deadline is 17th March. Be prepared to answer some questions about what you have read…
Get Caught Reading
This is a photo competition. Email photographs of yourself reading in unusual places to our school email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. There will be prizes for the most exciting pictures. Please remember to be safe!
Here’s Miss Gosling reading on holiday.
Can you come up with the winning design for a bookmark to promote reading at Ferry Lane? The winning design will be used to promote reading on our school website and will be printed on a huge banner to go outside our school. You can use a computer to design it, or pens/ pencils. The deadline for entries is 17th March – please hand your entries to Miss Gosling by 3.30pm or send them to email@example.com.
Can you read poetry aloud to entertain others? Can you rap? On Friday 18th March we will be having a poetry slam. If you would like to write a poem or a rap to perform, or even perform a favourite poem, then get practising! We will have winning poets performing for us at 2pm in a whole school assembly. The winner will be decided by the biggest applause.
We really look forward to receiving your entries for these competitions and wish you GOOD LUCK!
